Object Permanence

We've been trying to determine if Ophelia has object permanence by trying little experiments like hiding toys in boxes. I believe I have found the key.
Every morning she gets on the guest room desk and proceeds to meow at the window. Then she tries to move the blinds. She must have object permanence because she remembers a window being behind the blinds. As soon as the blinds are up, she is a happy kitty.
I'm starting to think there is something outside plaguing her. Lately we've been going through a fun exercise where she likes to sneak out the front door when I have a lot of stuff in my hands. She doesn't go far, but it is annoying to track her down in the bushes in work clothes. This activity is becoming an everyday occurence. If the spray bottle at the door doesn't work, we're going to have to get her microchipped.

Happy Halloween

Today is Halloween-Ophelia's official holiday. Since she is all black (except for the small patches where she has licked off her hair), she is our Halloween kitty. Today she is treated like royalty, which I suppose is like most other days. Maybe she'll get some extra rubs from us.
I also need to recognize the "Halloweenie Queenie"-my mother. This is her favorite holiday! To honor my mom, I will be wearing the costume she made for me 10 years ago. I will be a Kangaroo. Admittedly, the costume doesn't look as cute as it did 10 years ago. Mainly because it is a little bit tighter.
P.S. I got my flu shot today. This is your Public Service Announcement to do the same.

One foot in front of the other

For some reason, I just can't manage to move my feet correctly. As I walked into the office today, only a few feet away from my car, my foot slipped and I ended up on the ground.
Because I couldn't just fall, my DDP exploded in my bag of lunches. I went to reach for it and move it out of the way like a live grenade. I didn't move it out of the way enough. The DDP spewed at me like a broken hose.
I had to carry it in to the building still dripping. Luckily the injuries are minor-just a scraped up palm and bruised foot. At least I didn't break my glasses or split my pants. That would have been much worse.
